Our Approach

Engagement Roadmap

The first step in a typical engagement with iLC is conducting the Readiness Assessment.  iLC’s Readiness Assessment (Innogrid) is designed to efficiently and effectively guide the institution through a discussion and analysis of the internal strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats; as well as an environmental scan of the market viability and the competitive field.

Key questions pertain to areas such as:

A profile of institutional capabilities, opportunities and gaps

  •  mission and vision alignment,
  •  student recruitment and enrollment,
  •  student services,
  •  revenue and financial models,
  •  role and engagement of the faculty,
  •  faculty training and development needs
  •  appropriate pedagogical models
  •  technology resources and gaps

Developing a full understanding of the scope and extent of the market opportunities – competitive advantages, opportunities, and threats.

The second step is the evaluation of the results of the Innogrid Readiness Assessment and the creation of an institution specific Roadmap.  The Roadmap is a customized document that charts the recommended path from the current landscape to the desired learning outcomes and objectives for the selected online and blended format certificate programs.

Possible stops along the way for the Roadmap may include:

Leadership – depending on the support of the president and the trustees, this step may be needed to build consensus and match the objectives of the online learning plan with the mission and vision of the institution.
Faculty – developing a faculty training and development plan; identifying faculty to teach in an online environment; recruiting additional adjunct faculty as necessary.
Technology resources – determining the investment and staffing that will be necessary depending on whether the institution does or doesn’t have a Learning Management System?  Developing a support plan that depends on whether the LMS is supported internally or outsourced? Determining what staffing or external support is needed for instructional design and other programming needs.
Marketing – depending on the information available, this stop is for doing a competitive analysis, an environmental scan, and a determination of the recruiting plan for new students.
